Zlatan Ibrahimovic, never one to hide his light under a bushel, has claimed to have put both Sweden and France on the football map.
Sweden play Denmark in the first leg of their Euro 2016 play-off in Stockholm on Saturday and Ibrahimovic hinted that should they fail to make the finals in France – where he plays his club football with Paris Saint-Germain – then he may call it a day for his country.
“I would love to play at the European Championship in France,” the striker said. “I have played there for four years. I have put Sweden on the world map and now I have put France on the world map too.
“If it’s over [for me] after the play-offs? We’ll see. If you’re asking me now? No. If you ask me after the play-offs? I don’t know.”
