West Ham have been dealt a huge blow with the news that Dimitri Payet may be ruled out for three months.
The French midfielder has been a major factor in West Ham’s fine start to the season after his £10.7m summer move from Marseille but Payet, who has scored five goals in 14 appearances, suffered an ankle injury in a challenge from James McCarthy in the 1-1 draw against Everton on Saturday.
Jack Sullivan, the son of West Ham’s joint owner David Sullivan, revealed the extent of the 28-year-old’s injury on Twitter: “Sadly Payet will be out for about 3 months! Huge miss for the team. How the Everton player didn’t get sent off amazes me!!”
The Ecuador forward Enner Valencia was also injured in the match and West Ham are awaiting the results of a scan on his ankle.
