Ronny Deila, the Celtic manager, is hoping his hurting players repay their fans for suffering European misery with victory over Ross County. The Parkhead faithful were less than happy at the manner of Celtic’s hapless 2-1 defeat to Molde at Parkhead last Thursday night, which damaged further already battered and bruised Europa League hopes.
Boos accompanied the final whistle, which left the Scottish champions still bottom of Group A with two points from four games and needing wins over Ajax at Celtic Park and Fenerbahce in Istanbul to qualify for the group stages of the competition.
Meanwhile, Deila has to rally his team for the trip to Dingwall on Sunday where he looks to make amends. “We’re all in this together. Without the players the manager has no chance. I can’t do it myself on the pitch that’s for sure,” the Norwegian said.
“The players have to take responsibility and they feel responsible. I feel everybody let down the fans on Thursday. We let ourselves down and we let the fans down and that hurts so much. We have to stay strong and stay together.”
Deila is set to be without Jozo Simunovic and Kris Commons who both picked up injuries against Molde.
