The Manchester United
forward Jesse Lingard has been called into the England squad for
Tuesday’s game against France at Wembley. The 22-year-old joined up with
the squad on Sunday after two players were forced out through injury.
Lingard’s Old Trafford team-mate Michael Carrick was carried off in the last minute of England’s 2-0 defeat to Spain on Friday and has returned to his club, will not be available for England’s final game of the year.
Jamie Vardy, who sat out the game in Alicante with a knock sustained in Leicester’s match with Watford, will also miss Tuesday’s match.
England returned from Spain on Saturday and following the tragic shootings in Paris on Friday night, it was decided that the meeting with France would go ahead.
As planned, Roy Hodgson’s squad dispersed for 24 hours shortly after landing on home soil and will regroup at their Hertfordshire base on Sunday evening.
