The CAF chief has been in provisional control of the
world body following Sepp Blatter's suspension, and he plans to stay in
the role despite the serious operation
Hayatou, who also serves as CAF president, was appointed as acting FIFA president after Sepp Blatter - who is the subject of criminal proceedings in Switzerland - was relieved of all duties by the governing body last month.
That decision came following the Fifa Ethics Committee's move to ban Blatter from all football-related activity for 90 days.
