Barton 'starting to regret' Neymar tweet

The Burnley midfielder infamously compared the Brazil star to Justin Bieber in 2013, arguing that he was better on YouTube than in reality, but has now had a change of opinion

Whenever Neymar hits the target for Barcelona - which is becoming increasingly regularly - Joey Barton is the recipient of a lot of notifications on his phone.

That is because the Burnley midfielder and Twitter philosopher infamously tweeted that the Brazilian is "the Justin Bieber of football" in 2013, arguing he looked better on YouTube than he was in reality.

That nugget has been retweeted over 46,000 times since as Neymar has become an integral part of Barcelona's attack and a European champion.

On Sunday, with Neymar scoring another two goals to guide Barcelona to victory and cement his status as the top scorer in Spain, Barton finally made a concession.

"Slowly starting to regret that Neymar tweet," he posted. It looks as if the 23-year-old has won another admirer.

Young people to lose access to unemployment benefits as part of welfare reforms

YOUNG people will not be able to get unemployment benefits until they turn 25 under reforms introduced by the Turnbull Government today. The coalition has unveiled wide-ranging welfare reforms in parliament today, including changes to the Newstart program. It hopes to stop people aged 22 to 24 getting Newstart or the Sickness allowance, and they will instead be shifted to the Youth Allowance payment. This will reduce the amount of money that they will be able to get, costing a single person living away from home about $90 a fortnight. They will also be required to study in order to qualify for the payments. “The key aim of this measure is to provide incentives for young unemployed people to obtain the relevant education and training to increase employability,” according to an explanatory memorandum for the bill.
